About Legislation Take Action
Legislation Take Action is a grassroots community committed to protecting educational freedom and helping families stay informed and engaged in the legislative process.
We started in April 2019 as a response to the AB 1500 bill series, bringing families together to raise awareness, organize effectively, and speak up for their rights. Since then, we've grown into a trusted space where parents, educators, and advocates come to learn about proposed laws, understand how those laws impact school choice, and take meaningful action.
Whether you're homeschooling, enrolled in a charter school, or supporting other nontraditional learning paths, you're welcome here. Our mission is simple: keep families informed, empowered, and equipped to protect the future of educational choice.
What We Stand For
- Empowering Families – Families know what’s best for their children. We support their right to choose how and where their child learns.
- Promoting Innovation – Education should be flexible, creative, and student-centered.
- Ensuring Equity – Every child deserves access to quality educational opportunities, regardless of their background.
- Fostering Collaboration – We bring families, educators, lawmakers, and community leaders together to support solutions that work.
- Protecting Educational Freedom – We raise awareness and push back when policies threaten to limit learning choices.
- Building Strong Communities – We believe local educational options help create vibrant, resilient communities.

Support the Work
We’re fueled by families, not corporations or political organizations. Your support helps:
- Monitor and decode legislation
- Share action alerts and advocacy tools
- Host community discussions and trainings
- Keep pressure on decision-makers
- Host sites and pages that keep families informed
- Travel to the Capitol to meet with legislators and staff
If our work has helped you stay informed or take action, consider chipping in to help us keep going strong. (venmo @Windi-Eklund)
Note: We’re not a nonprofit, so contributions are not tax-deductible, but every dollar supports real grassroots advocacy by and for California families.
