AB 84 Next Stop - Senate Education Committee

Assembly Bills

Here's How to Take Action

We have heard that AB 84 may be heard in the California Senate Education Committee on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 9:00 am, but the hearing could be moved up. That means the sooner we submit letters of opposition, the better.

AB 84 threatens student access to the programs they need and that help them thrive.

AB 84 unfairly punishes students, schools, and small businesses that have done nothing wrong. Instead of addressing bad actors, it imposes blanket restrictions that would harm students, families, schools, and trusted community partners.

Deadline to Submit Letters for Inclusion in the Committee Analysis:

Friday, July 11 by 12:00 p.m. (noon)
This is the final date for letters to be officially listed in the committee's record, but we strongly encourage you to submit your letter as soon as possible in case the hearing is moved earlier.

How to Submit Your Letter

Opposition letters must meet the following requirements to be accepted and listed in the committee analysis:

  • Must be on letterhead (for organizations)
  • Must include the signature and title of an authorized representative
  • Must clearly state "Oppose AB 84" (letters stating only “concern” or “conditional opposition” will not be listed)
  • Submit only once, unless the bill is amended and your position changes

Every Letter Matters

We know from experience that when the community speaks up, legislators listen. Help us send a clear message: AB 84 goes too far, and it will harm students, families, and small businesses all across California.

Please take a few minutes to write and submit your letter of opposition, before noon on Friday, July 11, and preferably much sooner.

Thank you for standing with our children and their schools!
